Meet Alanna Sherstad-Ray

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C)
Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP)

From day one, I strive to create a comfortable environment in which my clients can feel at ease.  I deeply respect the courage it takes to start therapy and am committed to providing an experience that resonates with you.

I am known for my warmth, patience, curiosity,  and energy.  Together, we will explore ways to proactively approach your goals and makes changes to the challenges you are experiencing.

I am deeply committed to supporting people who have experienced trauma as well as those who are dealing with challenges surrounding pregnancy, infertility, birth, the postpartum period, and the transitions to parenthood.  I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health and seek to provide compassionate care, support, and help during these times.

I specialize in work with teenagers, adults, LGBTQ+, and new parents who are going through transition, or are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and perinatal/postnatal challenges.  My worldview and approach to my work are trauma-informed within an anti-oppression framework.  My sessions are safe and non-judgmental, all are welcome.

I work primarily from an Internal Family Systems and Somatic approach, utilizing EMDR, Mindfulness, DBT, and Trauma-Focused CBT.  I meet clients where they are and engage a therapy style that works best for them.

I have spent the past 20+ years working with survivors of trauma.  I have a deep respect for the courage and strength it takes to heal and admire the resilience in every person I've been honored to work alongside.

There are several ways of working with me, including virtual and in-person options. Please feel free to schedule a free initial online or in-person meeting so we can connect and discuss your hopes and goals for therapy.

A note about Insurance:

It is important to understand that in order to file a claim with your insurance I will be required to assign a mental health diagnosis that fits the symptoms for which you are seeking treatment. This will become a part of your permanent health record. Your diagnosis will be discussed with you to ensure your comfort with the claims filing process.

For complete confidentiality some clients opt not to use their insurance to avoid having a mental health diagnosis on their health record. I honor your preferences and respect their rights to privacy. You can discuss your questions or concerns about this during your free phone consultation and opt for self-pay if that feels more comfortable.
